At the end of the film the two young runaway lovers seek refuge from the hostile community, who want to see them separated, in the bell tower of the church, just as the village is hit by a violent storm. The filmmaker makes the most of this moment to play with our expectations, twisting the codes and signs of both romantic films (the weather seems linked to the strength of their feelings for each other, and fear of separation) and suspense films (will they risk killing themselves, jumping out of the tower into the void ? Will the authorisation for the adoption arrive on time ?). All the weather elements were created in studio, the rain, the lightening, to allow the filmmakers to control them and to use them exactly as they wanted to.
