Sensation

Watching and making: a specific question of cinema to discover and explore different parameters of cinema (choice of direction, sound, light, acting, editing and more), and resources to explore it in a teaching situation.

The sensation in question:

When going through a film, the spectator experiences different kinds of sensations which sometimes pass through a character or are directly addressed to them by the director.

Rules of the Game

Individual and collective exercises, based on common rules, will enable the participants to experiment and understand the issues at stake in the film question. It's your turn to play!

1. Choose an element in your daily life and describe, in images (still or animated) and sounds, the sensations it evokes.

2. Composition of sensations based on the different senses: how can we describe a place by choosing to apprehend it according to a privileged sense (sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, synesthesia)?

3. Expression of sensations (images and sounds) from music (without words).

Workshops Exercises

SENSATION DIARY

Sensation was the subject of the CCAJ workshops in 2019-2020. That year, the workshops were interrupted by an exceptional situation: for several weeks, or even months, everyone had to stay at home because of the pandemic.

With their phones, the students, as well as some teachers and facilitators, paid attention and filmed the sensations they experienced during this confinement.

Gathered in thematic montages, these short films constitute an incredible testimony: how this situation was perceived and lived intimately by everyone, at the same time, in the 4 corners of the world.

Sensations 1 - It's all quiet here

Sensations 2 - On the move

Sensations 3 - From my window

Sensations 4 - In my world

Sensations 5 - The call from outside

Sensations 6 - Aquatic

Sensations 7 - As close as possible

Sensations 8 - When you live in the city
